What Are Ragdolls Known for?
The Ragdoll is a breed of cat with a distinct color point coat and blue eyes. Its morphology is large and weighty, and it has a semi-long and silky soft coat. American breeder Ann Baker developed Ragdolls in the 1960s. They are best known for their docile, placid temperament and affectionate nature.
Who Created Ragdolls?
DID YOU KNOW? The Ragdoll originated in the early 1960s when a breeder, Ann Baker of Riverside, Calif., bred a semi-feral long-haired white cat resembling an Angora to cats she found or owned. They also have been voted the most popular cat for 2020 & 2021!
When Were Ragdolls First Introduced?
The first Ragdoll kittens were born in California in the 1960s. They are probably the result of a mating between a white Persian cat queen (female) and a Birman or Birman-type tom. When picked up, the cat becomes very relaxed and is as floppy as the ragdoll from which it takes its name.
Where Are Ragdolls Mostly Found?
The breed is particularly popular in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Ragdolls are often known as "dog-like cats" or "puppy-like cats" due to their tendency to follow people around, their receptiveness to handling, and their relative lack of aggression toward other pets.
Traditional Vs Non-traditional Ragdolls
TRADITIONAL
"Traditional" Ragdolls are born all white and have blue eyes only. Their hair is very fluffy soft with like a cotton ball texture.
NON-TRADITIONAL
"Non-Traditional" or "Mink" Ragdolls also newly referred to as "Cherubim" Ragdolls differences are they have eyes ranging from blue to aqua to green eyes and are born with color. Coats are usually a slightly different texture as well. Theirs is like that of a velveteen rabbit.

At ApotheCattery, we follow STRICT guidelines and procedures as well as keep very clear pedigrees showing our minks are never paired with our traditional. They are raised in completely different nurseries and completely separated in our home at all times. On that note, there are some unprofessional people who are slandering elite catteries for having non traditional. We do not spread hate or discriminate against these loving and gorgeous kittens. All our clientele have different preferences in their kitten and we are here to meet all their standards...not other breeders standards. We meet TICA and CFA standards with both and that is all we care about!
